On the 23rd of September 2005 (Beijing time), the Chinese national final of the BMW Golf Cup International 2005 concluded at Shenzhen Mission Hills Golf Club. Over 60 BMW owners and amateur golfers selected through regional tournaments attended the event. After a heated competition, Zhao Bing won the Men's Category 1 (HP 0-12), Liu Bi won the Men's Category 2 (HP above 12), and Yu Hui won the Ladies' Category. The three winners moved on to represent China at the world final in Phuket, Thailand from November the 28th to December the 3rd.

Despite rainy weather and muggy heat, the world final participants of the BMW Golf Cup International 2005 got all they could have hoped for. The two championship courses at the renowned Blue Canyon Country Club, Canyon Course and Lakes Course, posed a challenge to the 108 golf amateurs from 40 nations who had qualified.

In the Men's category 1 (up to handicap 12), it was clear that Michael Houpe would emerge victorious after he had played the 54 holes. The American stayed ahead of the Canadian runner-up Patrice Paré. Kang Jun Seo from South Korea won first place in the Men's category 2 (handicap 13 to 28), followed by Alejandro Jose Revilla who represented the Philippines. The lady with the best drives, pitches and putts was Sue Bartley. After an exciting 18th hole play-off with Silja Johansson from Romania, the American secured her victory in the women's category. In the team rating, South Korea ranked first ahead of the competition.

One of the highlights on the final day was the "golf clinic" with Nick Faldo. On a 9-hole round on the Canyon Course, the participants had the opportunity to receive exclusive theoretical and practical golfing advice from the six-time major winner. Nick Faldo also presented the winners with their cups at the gala evening concluding the successful event.
