The BMW Asian Open, the first ever tri-sanctioned Chinese Golf Association, Asian Tour and European Tour event in China, will return to the 7,340-yard Championship course at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club from April 24 to 27, 2008.
The USD 2.3 million tournament has once again attracted a stellar line-up of world-class golfers including three Majors champions Retief Goosen, Michael Campbell and Greg Norman, European aces Henrik Stenson and Miguel Angel Jiménez, and defending champion Raphaël Jacquelin. However, all eyes will on Chinese heroes Liang Wen Chong, the first Chinese to win the Asian Tour’s UBS Order of Merit, and Zhang Lian Wei , the country’s most celebrated golfer with one European Tour and four Asian Tour titles,as they seek to become the first Chinese player to win the BMW Asian Open.
As in previous years, BMW China will again not charge any entrance fees for the tournament. Instead BMW and golf enthusiasts can register via a special Call-Center telephone or by email/internet to receive their personal invitation to the BMW Asian Open 2008. For those who decide spontaneously to watch the BMW Asian Open 2008 access will be granted by registration at the main entrance at Tomson Golf Club.
