The Frenchman’s maiden European Tour success arrived amid a spray of champagne in Spain in October 2005 when he won the Open de Madrid on his 238th European Tour start. The champagne dousing from his fellow French golfers left Jacquelin soaked but satisfied. He received a second dousing of champagne when he completed a wire-to-wire victory in the 2007 BMW Asian Open in Shanghai.
Jacquelin graduated from the Challenge Tour in 1997 where he finished fourth on the rankings after winning twice during the season. He dreamt of being a professional soccer player until a knee injury at age 13 forced him to turn his attention to other pursuits. He initially took up tennis, before switching to golf and enjoyed a successful amateur career before turning professional in 1995.
